4 Dates That Could Actually Help “The Bachelorette”+comment
SPOILER ALERT: On last night’s finale of “The Bachelorette,” Emily choose Jef, the entrepreneur who dresses like Ponyboy from The Outsiders over race-car driver, Ari. While Jef and Emily pledged their love in front of millions of people and are now engaged (which is probably just an ABC contractual obligation), are these two really compatible? Do they really know enough about each other to vow to spend the rest of their lives together?
Recently I wrote an article for The Huffington Post suggesting the types of dates these potential suitors should go on to really get to know each other. While everyone may feel romantic snorkeling in the Bahamas, the real test of your relationship will most likely happen in an airport layover in Topeka or deciding which movie to watch on a Friday night. If future Bachelor & Bachelorettes want a relationship that lasts longer than a fashion season, I recommend real dates. Cobblestone steps and historic European cities may be lovely, but try a date that might actually resemble the ones you’ll be going on when the cameras are off.
